Bamboo

It’s the growing season, and I am starting to see my bamboo plants recover.

I had an unfortunate incident years prior where a company (Asplundh) came to clear the trees near the power lines and then saw the bamboo on my property and decided to include it in the trimming.

I’d like to emphasize “on my property,” it was well outside of the electric company’s easement.

Luckily for me, there was enough root structure left to transplant the bamboo elsewhere on my land. Skip ahead 3 years, and I finally have a recovered plant.

I could say a lot of nasty and violent things about the company, their employees, and likely even their families and extended relatives. But I will spare you that. Let’s just leave it at “F*** Asplundh.”

Rice Wine 막걸리

We are making the Korean rice wine, makgeolli. It’s a milky white alcohol with a bit of fizz.

It’s fairly easy to make. You need sweet rice, water, regular yeast, and nuruk.

I bought all of the ingredients on Amazon using gift cards I earned using the Drop app.

You wash the rice, steam it, and then spread it out to cool. Then mix the yeast and nuruk with water. Toss it all in a jar and stir it daily. Should be ready in about 9 days.

Starbucks

Well, with the reward program changing tomorrow, I decided to cash out my rewards.

I have a bagful of sandwiches for lunch now. I asked the barista to pick out a bunch, as they didn’t have 7 of just 1 type of sandwich.

The register actually got stuck partway through and stopped printing receipts. However, I was able to see in my app that the rewards had been used.

Thankfully, there wasn’t a line, and the staff were very considerate despite my hefty request.

Profit

Litecoin recently went up in value, so I decided to liquidate a third of what I was holding. I got about 1200 dollars from the sale. I was happy to see it go up, but I think I make more profit buying and selling penny stocks. Pot companies are really popular these days, and I have made some great money on Aurora, Chronos, and Shineco.

Aurora, especially, is fun. The other day it opened at like $9.02 and fell to $8.66. I bought around a hundred shares, and I was able to sell them for $9.20 each yesterday. I wish I had gone harder on that one, but I am still happy with a 54-cent per share turnaround.
