My most dear possessions

What personal belongings do you hold most dear?

That would have to be my photo albums and greeting cards. I keep these in a safe and dry location in the house.

The albums include photos from my childhood and from my parent’s travels from before I was conceived.

They are precious memories that could not be replaced. They are also representative of my families history on both sides. I can trace my roots through the images seen on every page.

We pay respect to our ancestors every year by way of the Korean Jesa ceremony (제사), which my family has adopted.

Ancestor worship is rarely present in either cultures of my heritage. So, I was quite thankful to find a way to honor my forebears.

Who are your current most favorite people?

Song Sohee – Gyeonggi minyo or traditional folk singer.

My favorite people are Hanguk.

I was introduced to Korean music in 2008 while playing Dungeons and Dragons Online.

I had just joined a pickup party, and the leader was apologizing over the microphone that his buddy was a “k-pop fangirl” and that music would be playing throughout the dungeon.

The music playing was from the group Girls Generation who were quite popular at the time.

In the subsequent years I have become enamored of Korean culture, customs, and history. My family has adopted the custom of performing the 제사 (Jesa) each year in memorial to our deceased relatives.

I and my family have enjoyed watching Korean television programing including Drama, Sitcoms, and Variety shows.

Currently, I am really enjoying watching I Am Solo. I’ve been a Defconn fan for some time. I am happy to see his career flourishing.

Ugh

I ran into some problems with my phone and sadly had to do a factory reset. I’m back up and running, but I’ve lost my old keyboard layout, which is no longer supported.

Also lost is the Korean language input I was using. In the language input select menu, it shows X’s in boxes for Chinese/Japanese/Korean.

I downloaded G-board, but it really doesn’t match up to what I had.

Mostly, the problem is that I don’t know what the name is of the old keyboard.

I wish I had screenshots of my old keyboard. It was more compact and didn’t focus on the GUI much.

Switching languages was fast, just long-press the space bar and highlight the language. The G-board opens a window to select a language and lists stuff I don’t need. It’s bulky.
