Louisburg, NC

Louis’ Borough, as my father calls it, is the seat for Franklin County. The courthouse and administrative offices are just in town off of main street. Just a ways out of town is the Sheriffs office.

There is a signboard up in town, just before the bridge, saying that they are constructing a new community center and town meeting hall. There is an old brick building that’s been there forever and its going to be getting a facelift.

Elsewhere in town there is further construction ongoing. Braces have gone up supporting the wall of the old theater building.

Town Features

The town of Louisburg includes several staple businesses including Walmart, Carlie C’s, and the Goodwill. Lots of national fast food options as well as local specialty shops.

There are two bridges in town that cross over the Tar River, which winds east and south, on its way to Pamlico Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. A small park sits below the Main Street bridge, near a bend in the river.

My mother likes to support local businesses and she will often stop at the cafe in town, Blue Collie Coffee.

I like visiting Louisburg, in part, because they have so many EV charging stations. There are four stations in town. Two of them are ChargePoint stations in public access areas, and then there’s one near a church, and another at the local college.

Both my GP and optometrist have offices in Louisburg as well, so I go there often.

Architecture

Between brick churches and the civic structures like the court house and the justice center, there is a lot to see. It’s a big area to cover, so I will take multiple trips as the weather improves and get more photos for the gallery.

Louisburg Fire Engines

I happened to arrive in town when there was a non-emergency gathering of fire trucks in town. I got some nice shots of the bright red fire engines with all of their gleaming metal parts. They remind me of Transformers toys from childhood.
