Victory and Defeat

It all happened in one day. I made it to 5,000 Favor and got my Celestial Mount.

Finally, here in the 3rd season of the Hardcore League, I have survived.

So now for the defeat.

I won’t go into great detail for privacy/legal reasons. But I was visited by the police and they took things from the house. I got a copy of the warrant, and I will be getting called in a few days to turn myself in.

I have, on occasion, expected an encounter like this for some time and will cooperate fully.

I don’t know if this is my last posting or not.

To be clear, I have no intentions at this time of possibly harming myself. I cannot speak to the future unknown, but I will try to finalize the assorted parts of my life here.

I just realized I am going to miss all of those gold rolls and the picture of me on the mount is with the police.

Well, yesterday the data servers had an outage after some massive lag spikes.

Wall of red text during/after the lag as people died in dungeons. Then just everything crashed.

It did come back online, and I was able to play some, but was only willing to do things on Normal mode with the panic button (royal guard mask) ready.

Today, when I got home from work, I found the game was once again offline.

So I played around on some single-player stuff, but it didn’t really tickle my fancy.

I did manage to log in at Cannith for a while to get my Daily Gold Roll, got some junk and exp, nothing important.

I am a bit disappointed I was not able to get my gold roll on the Hardcore server today. Though I am still alive, so that is good. I am just 279 Favor points away from getting the 5k favor reward, the Celestial Mount.

I am still alive and banking the full “Three Lives to Lose” status. I have noticed the mobs are starting to have some bite to their attacks, especially the casters.

I am level 17 and I have 3735 favor, so just 1265 to go. I have cleared most of the level 15 and 18 quests since there are so many groups around running the higher stuff. I do need to complete Siegebreaker and Mired in Kobolds before I can safely take level 18.

I’ll need a group for Siegebreaker due to the traps at the boss fight, and for Mired in Kobolds, I could handle the dragon, but it would take forever to kill it, so extra DPS would be a blessing.

My guild leader from Cannith, who is playing on Hardcore for the first time, sadly died in Keeper’s Sanctuary.

A Thraak hound got him while he was going to disable the traps. He had reincarnated once already and was level 12, but had already lost his extra life.

I have started a new Reaper toon using the Bladeforged iconic since they are so immune to everything. 3 Paladin, 3 Sorcerer, and 14 Warlock is the plan.

I took Cacodemon as my pact and will use Spellsword Acid to spread my damage potential out. Ice, Acid, Light, and Force.

I’ll go sword and board initially, and then as the reapers get tougher, I will respec and switch to blasting.

Well, it looks like the game recognized I was disconnected, and it logged me out.

So, I am still alive for now.

I made it to level 10 and got my Bariovian battleaxe. I am now flagged for Shadow Crypt and Bloody Crypt.

I can go and get my Silver Flame nugget upgraded. I also need to farm the Ravenloft sets soon.

I am sitting at 1200 Favor currently with 228 Reaper exp from a short/safe pike.

So I was running Red Fang, and my internet dropped.

Turns out my ISP is doing maintenance. I had almost killed a spider and had maybe called in my hirelings before DC; can’t be sure.

It’s the Hardcore server, so if the game didn’t log me out when I DC (disconnected), then I am dead and will have to start a new character. I was banking level 8, but I don’t know if that counts for the extra life, or if that was something I needed to claim.

Not enough info on those just yet.

I asked my guild leader if he had seen my name in red, but he didn’t catch it. Lots of other names, but that is to be expected on Hardcore.

All day, you see notifications of players dying to various things.

I’ll have to wait and see come the morning. I am quite anxious right now, and I suspect my sleep will be fraught with challenges.

This year we are getting Free-to-play players joining us on the hardcore server.

“Season 3: Saving Grace” starts in about an hour, and I am very happy to be able to play with the rest of my guild, who are mostly free to play.

My Hardcore Build

I will be using the Bladeforged Paladin for my favorite toon this time around. Indomitable-2.

STR: 14, Dex: 10, CON: 18, INT: 10, WIS: 12, CHA: 12.

Skills: Concentration, Intimidate, Jump, and Balance.

Weapons: Warhammer (Barovian) and the Tower Shield (Mirrorplate).

Enhancements: Sacred Defender (27AP), Vanguard (11AP), Racial (11AP), KotC (22AP), Harper (1AP): Total: 80+2 Racial and Universal Tomes.

Feats: (1) Adamantine Body, (3) Shield Mastery, (6) Improved Shield Bash, (9) Tower Shield Proficiency, (12) Improved Shield Mastery, (15) Improved Critical: Bludgeon, (18) Shield Deflection, (21) Construct Exemplar.

This offer took 14 days to complete. I had Google Play credits from doing Google Opinion Surveys. I used a dollar to get the special starter Japanese hero (Sanada Yukimura) and some boosts.

I’m actually watching a show about Sanada Yukimura currently, so this is kind of cool.

The tutorial gets you through basic movement around the map and the construction of your city center. Make sure you join an active alliance and preferably one that is not combat-focused.

Those Help requests will really do you good on the construction timers. For starting Nation, you should take France and then later on switch to China.

Things went well till maybe the 10th day, when this fool leading our alliance decided to attack the biggest alliance on the map.

I had seen them destroy another team earlier from a public posting. They had over 3 million troops split among 6 alliances.

Anyways, he woke the sleeping beast, and we got overrun. I teleported away and quit the group; I went solo to finish my mission.

In other news, I did some debit card deals with Varo and Aspiration, and those got me up to Amethyst rank at Swagbucks. So I’ve made over $100 in points to date.
