Category Archives: Side Hustles

Common side hustles will often include work in the Gig Economy. These can be app-based services such as DoorDash, Uber, or GoPuff. Other options may be developing apps for Apple and Android devices, or creating eBooks and stationary to sell on Amazon. Further opportunities are available in closed-captioning work, AI prompt designer, completing surveys, playing games for cash, and In-Home Product Testing (iHUT).

Swagbucks: Tornado (Nvstr)

Tornado Investing

Tornado is an easy one, I’d definitely suggest completing it. It’s available on MyPoints, InboxDollars, and Swagbucks. Just keep in mind they have a subscription service for $5 a month for free trades. This is silly as most did away with charging for trades last year with the rise of Robinhood and it’s ilk. So you’ll want to close the account before the month ends. You get the SB, but you forfeit any bonus cash ($15-1,000) from Tornado.

Canceling the membership early will result in them charging you for the current month. Also the bonus cash you get from signing up is forfeit if you don’t make a trade within 1 month of receiving it. The bonus cash also cannot be withdrawn until 1 year after receiving it.

If you don’t mind keeping the account then I would suggest doing all of the bonus cash learning activities (worth $50-60) and then spending all but $5 on some stocks. You can then cancel the membership (paying $5 for 1 month) and keep the account until 1 year has passed. Then you can sell the stocks and withdraw the bonus cash and your profits.

I bought 11 shares of $FSP which is paying a 9-cent dividend quarterly. After a year that should cover most of the membership fee I paid when I canceled it. I thought I was being smart canceling it early, but they are smart enough to still charge you for the first month.

If you are not already a member of Swagbucks, MyPoints, or InboxDollars; I strongly suggest you sign up. These sites are a great source of extra income for spontaneous purchases. Like that time I bought a $500 drone, that now collects dust in my closet.

Swagbucks: Factor 75 Meals

There was an offer up for 5,000SB after signing up and ordering meals from Factor 75. I’ve previously done the Sunbasket and Green Chef meal kits and I liked them. It went pending soon after payment (32 Days).

The box was scheduled for delivery yesterday, but I got an email saying it would be delayed. It got here this evening and the tape looks a bit off. Like the box was sealed and reopened. Otherwise everything is in order.

The meals themselves look like TV dinners that you can pop into the microwave. The other meal kit services have you cook the food yourself, so this was a bit easier.

It tastes good…maybe not $60 good, but okay. Definitely worth trying out though, I highly suggest trying them.

Swagbucks Rewarding Moments

I was happy to see on my Activity Ledger that my “Rewarding Moments” story had been chosen for October.

Each month, Swagbucks has an event invitation that goes out in the mail. They chose a member’s submitted story to feature on Swagbucks’ Blog “The Daily Swag.”

In addition to the recognition, members also receive 1,000 SB in their accounts.

I’ve been using Swagbucks since early 2020; really, I am so grateful for all of the rewards I have received since signing up.

Topaz Rank Activity Ledger

Swagbucks: Daily Streak FAIL

Previously I had posted about reaching my 9th day on the streak. Well, today I just hit 31 days on my daily goal streak for Swagbucks. Unfortunately, today the first of October would have been the 31st day. The Calendar on Swagbucks restarts the count at the beginning of each month, so I am back to day 1 now.

31 Day FAIL

I won’t be getting that big 300 SB reward or the nifty 31-day Badge. I’ll have to try for 31 days again during October. I think I had known about the calendar thing in the past, but I spaced it out.

GuruShots

I did this Photography game offer on Swagbucks and it paid out early. The offer required you to reach level 5, but it went pending at level 3. I am still using the app though as I really enjoy photography. There are many cat photos on Guru Shots which I love.

GuruShots Pending

Swagbucks: Give to Charity

These charity offers are not the biggest money-makers. If your goal is racking up SB to reach a new Ranking then I would suggest completing all of the charity offers.

Most of the offers I can see on Swagbucks are making maybe $5-$10 cash back after the donation. The exception is Sierra Club at $50 profit.

Hobbit Day 2021

Hobbit Day is a name used for September 22 in reference to its being the birthday of the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, two fictional characters in J. R. R. Tolkien’s popular set of books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

According to the fictional setting, Bilbo was born in the year of 2890 and Frodo in the year of 2968 in the Third Age (1290 and 1368 respectively in Shire-Reckoning.)

9 Day Streak

I’ve been racking up the points on Swagbucks lately. I am on my 9th day streak for hitting the Daily goals. I’ve done many offers that normally I would skip due to low payouts. The Cleo app even uses rude language; swearing and cussing at you. Maybe that’s trendy? I find it offensive and hurtful.

It all stacks up though and I recently got $50 in PayPal cash redemption. I have another 5000 SB and 6000 SB coming from offers Lili and Albert which complete today.

I also did some Magic Receipts deals for in-store shopping. I bought two Truly brand hard seltzer 16oz cans for $2.09 each, and got 400 SB in return. I got them at the Shell gas station and they were actually 2 for $4 so in the end it was free.

There is another Magic Receipts offer today for spaghetti sauce. Bertolli Marinara for $3.79 each and I get 600 SB back. It credited instantly with the receipt upload without needing to request a manual review.

Swagbucks: Pantaya

The best streaming service in Spanish for the U.S. Sign up for Pantaya and get 3 months of streaming for just $1 per month. Plus, earn 600 SB!*

Another easy money maker here. The streaming service Pantaya is being offered for $1, which gets you a 3 month subscription. The offer rewards 600 SB, so we are earning $5 by completing the offer. I got the confirmation email from Swagbucks right away.

This is also a good choice if you are interested in foreign language programing. We mostly watch Korean television in my household, so I don’t think I will be using this service. In fact I spend around $100 each year on the “VikiPass Plus” annual plan to watch Korean Drama’s.

Swagbucks

There was no transit service at the town I was in. Uber/Lyft and taxi, no luck. I tried to walk home 11 miles but only made it 3 miles. Hot and exhausted wearing slacks and a blazer, finally found a ride on Uber after getting further south.
